OPEN MIC UK GRAND FINAL TO TAKE PLACE AT THE BIRMINGHAM NEC EARLY IN 2014
With over 10,000 applicants every year Open Mic UK, they have been giving the nation’s hopefuls a real opportunity to come through the ranks as budding artists of any genre or style, perform to crowds of thousands, and to compete in the Grand Final at the Birmingham NEC.
What has always made Open Mic UK, TeenStar, and predecessor Live and Unsigned different, is their encouragement for the original artist to have this chance as much as the angelic singer doing covers.
The Open Mic UK singing competition is bought to us by Future Music, the company behind the discovery of artists such as Warner Music’s Birdy, Columbia Record’s Lucy Spraggan, Union J’s Jaymi Hensley, and Jahmene Douglas, both now signed to Sony Music, and 2013 winner of sister competition TeenStar- Luke Friend of whom is still now in the X Factor finals!
After walking off X Factor, Lucy Spraggan has gone on to achieve a sell-out UK tour, highly successful album release and long lasting celebrity status. Lucy said, ‘Open Mic UK is a great way to build your fan base to thousands of new fans whether you are a guest act or a competitor in the show’.
The overall winner of the competition will receive a comprehensive winner’s package with the main prize of £5,000 cash to spend on the development of their act, along with development consultation including social marketing, image, brand, and access to industry contacts.
With judges on the panel for 2014 already confirmed from Universal, Sony, and Warner- it will be a big opportunity for the acts to get into their radar!
